Frequently Asked Questions
Will a Standard 1200 x 900mm or 900 x 900mm screen fit on a shower base?
It is advisable with any job to measure for the actual screen required once base and walls are finished. The sizes we list for our screens are the actual sizes supplied. Only the person who is measuring the job site can determine the actual size of the screen that will fit.
What does it mean by custom made shower screen?
We offer custom size screens from straight cut glass. This give us the ability to supply a custom ordered screen with a quick turn around. This differs from screens that are made to measure which allow for the cutting of glass to suit walls and floors that may have run outs. Speak to your nearest reseller if you are unsure if this will work for you.

With all our Frameless Glass you have the choice of channel or brackets depending on what your job requires.
Do the shower bases/tile trays come with puddle flange?
This is an item that is supplied by your plumber to suit your particular application. They are readily available at your local plumbing stores.
Are the doors 2000mm?
Our frameless glass doors are slightly smaller than 2000mm to allow room for the door swing over the floor and clear the top glass without any contact.
Can I have a sliding shower screen, if I have a 1000-1100mm opening?
Due to the frameless sliding screen of this size using 2 glass panels it ends up creating a smaller door opening which in some cases may not be practical for your bathroom or the user. It is best to discuss your requirements with your bathroom supplier or installer to make sure this will work.
How long after measurements, can we have our screen installed?
Each job is of course unique. At Bella Vista we are proud of our quick and responsive turn around. Generally allow from the the time of measurement to completion approximately one week. We will of course discuss this with you during the course of the job.
What size walk in panel is safe without stabilizer?
It is more a case of what you are comfortable with. Frameless glass is very strong but when it is not stabilised at the top it can of course have some movement. It is best to discuss your requirements with your installer or bathroom suppliers at the time of order.
Can I use channel or brackets for the bottom of the glass?
It is not required and we advise against fitting anything that requires drilling of the floor due to water leaks. The glass needs to be raised a minimum of 3mm from any hard surface which can be achieved with glass setting blocks and then held in place via a silicone seal which is also available in structural grade. The lack of brackets or channel on the floor enhances the frameless glass look of your screen.
Do you cut glass?
Yes Bella Vista can supply cut glass on a made to measure basis. Speak to your bathroom supplier for further information.
How does the channel get installed when you’re not using the brackets?
Fitting the channel is similar in many ways to brackets, but it can also be much easier. The channel is screwed to the wall directly and it is advised to use silicone between the channel and wall so as not to create leaks. The glass is then fitted to channel and again set in place with silicone. Please Note: at no stage should glass contact any hard surface such as the channel or tiles etc.

I heard it costs extra to install 12mm thick glass?
12mm glass is generally much heavier as it is used for larger size panels. This requires a minimum of two people to handle it and that’s the reason for any additional charges.
Why is it a big deal when glass needs to go up or down stairs?
Most stair cases are 1000mm wide and have a very small landing. To get the glass to the second level is a nightmare even with two people. There is a high risk that there will be damage to the plaster / walls and the installers do not want to be responsible for any damages caused. In many cases the installers cant get around the landing of the staircase so they bring it back down and cancel the job.
