Better Homes: Kitchen and Bathroom Color Tips

Kitchen and Bathroom Colour Tips

Choosing the most suitable kitchen and bathroom color can be one of the most difficult decisions you have to make when it comes to your home. Color inspiration in the bathroom and kitchen can come from anywhere, but bear in mind that not all colors look great everywhere.  The trick is finding out the best color for you and your room. Bella Vista has put together a list of kitchen and bathroom colour tips to consider when choosing the right kitchen and bathroom colors to make sure you don’t have any regrets!

  1. Pick colors that you really love. Of course, you need to choose the colors that you really like and the ones that you respond to emotionally. Every person has different taste when it comes to colors. Juicy yellow in the kitchen may look refreshing in your eyes, but might look brash in other people’s eyes.
  2. Don’t be afraid to try brighter or saturated colors in your bathroom or kitchen. Remember, sometimes the paint color is just used as a border around your appliances, woodwork and cabinets. Getting the right color for your room can make these items fashionable and help them stand out just like having the right frame for an artwork.
  3. Be ready in making compromises and be flexible. You may have made your choice but sometimes your color choice might need revision as you start your project, so be flexible and open to other ideas and it might be good to ask the other members of the family, they might know some kitchen and bathroom colour tips.
  4. The best way to start is to find out the least flexible element or fixture in your kitchen or bathroom and match colors to it. It is a lot easier to alter paint on walls or cabinets than to change a kitchen worktop or tiles!
  5. If you are looking for some bathroom colour tips, lighting is one of the most important things to consider. Look at all the combination of colors that you have in daylight and artificial light in your room. Soft greens and blues may look fresh in the morning, but may look gloomy in artificial light. Make the right selection of lighting first as this is helpful when decorating – it can really have a big impact in the overlook of your room.
  6. When talking about granite/tiles and other countertops, the most practical suggestion is to keep them in a neutral color. These are the type of items that you don’t want to change when trends move on..

Your bathroom and kitchen’s paint colour should be reflected on the look you want to achieve so will need to also tone well with the tiles and your bathroomware/kitchen hardware.  For more information on how to decorate these rooms contact Bella Vista where we have a wide range of tiles and granite as well as bathroomware and kitchen components.
